| She is such a pretty girl, loving the photos. Just wanted to add that when we first had Kayleigh she was far too interested in our cat, we had a few hairy moments too. Kayleigh was obsessed and she would shake and make strange noises when Poppy cat was about. It took months (using stair gates so Poppy could get away or having Kayleigh on lead when Poppy was around). We would feed Poppy on the stairs behind the stair gate and Kayleigh would watch her both within a couple of feet of each other (different sides of the stair gate). Over time they just got used to each other. Finally Poppy just started to come into the room when Kayleigh was about and they would have a little sniff. They get on great now, Kayleigh always seems pleased to see Poppy and she will go to greet her wagging her tail whilst Poppy will rub herself up against Kayleigh. I was not sure at first that it would ever get there but am pleased to say all went well in the end, it just took time and patience (and a little worry on my part) D | |

| That is good to know. Meanwhile in the short term I will need more highlights to cover the new grey hair that is coming!
Nicola and her boyfriend are running the Brighton marathon this morning in aid of Against Breast Cancer, well done them. Jen and I will walk round the block and think of them!! | |

| Rainy day yesterday so spent quite a bit of time indoors although we did still manage 2 walks in between showers. Jen is molting quite a bit so lots of hoovering required ( my experience is that mastiffs molt all year round ) she snores and she blows off normally when you are about to eat. | |

| Jen pup as she has become affectionately known by us goes back to the rescue tomorrow she wasnt here long but takes a little bit of our hearts with her. Hats off to anyone who fosters this was my first one and Ive found it an emotional roller coaster! She is a little luv to people and well behaved in all ways at ours but has not been good with other dogs when we ve seen them out walking and I dont have the experience to deal with it and she still hates my cat! We ve agreed she needs some doggy socialisation and further assessment which she can get at the rescue with Shaun. Good luck Jen (There'll be tears tomorrow!) | |

| Sharon spent some time with us introducing Jen to the other dogs Sunday afternoon. It was good to see Jen being so good with other dogs at the rescue. Thank you for spending the time with us and showing us how to read the signs and what we should be doing to when she meets other dogs. How is she and how did she get on with the group walks? We re missing her! | |

| She has been good, she gives Lyla a wide birth when she is loose and Lyla is in her crate, she was well behaved on the walk and walked by Lyla as I understand it, but then Lyla is good out of the crate she is just not good confined, when Lyla is loose and Jen is in the crate Jen is turning her back to her so showing some great avoidance which is helping Lyla

| Picked Jen up Friday night for the weekend. She was pleased to see me and me her. We decided to change tactics with the walks and Saturday morning we took her to the seaside and had a lovely 2 hour walk on the downs and the beach. We chose it there because there is a wide strip of grass on the top of the downs. This gave us lots of room to see other dogs and walk away if need be. It was really windy and there wasnt lots of dogs about but we saw about 6. She ignored the ones that ignored her. She stared at them gets no reaction and carried on. With the 2 she got a reaction, the first one she pulled towards a bit half hearted and we carried on passed. The second one she was more determined pulled and barked so we changed direction. This morning we did a round the lanes walk. Also did things a bit different. Didnt let her stop and sniff stuff and made her pay attention to me. We also did short bursts of jogging and then I d stop without saying anything to see if she was paying attention to me after the first 3 times she got it and was stopping when I stopped!!! After that she was also better with not being infront when we walk. We didnt see any other dogs but I still felt Id taken her for a walk rather than her going for a walk and me tagging along! The conclusion is though that she is much fitter than me.... Its a learning curve for us both. | |

| She was really funny on the beach. It was windy so lots of waves which she found quite fascinating. Nicola took some pictures on her phone but I dont seem to be able to upload them. | |

| Oooops Jen ate the pocket of my coat! My own fault though as I left it in the conservatory with her while I was out yesterday and it had treats in the pocket.... When I got home my coat was in her bed........I thought thats strange I didnt leave it on the floor. I had left it on the chair though. Its quite a tough coat but not bull mastiff proof!!!!!! She d got in from the inside so the lining is ripped and the pockets ripped from the inside, but its still wearable! | |

| Jen is now brilliant at fetch and leave in the garden. The ball is no longer round ! But what is left of the ball she fetches brill.
I bought a halti in the week, something I havent used before but it certainly gives me a lot more control when we are out walking. At first she looked a bit "strapped up" and she tried to rub it off with her paw which made me feel a bit guilty. However we are both getting used to it and she ignores it more each time we go out.
She met my sisters 2 goats (through a fence) yesterday which was really funny. The goats arent scared of anything and just silently stared her out, right up by the fence! She stared back barked and then wandered off.
Everyone loves her, she has them wrapped round her little paw which is great as I can call on a variety of people to let her out for wee if I have to go out.
Hoping to walk her with another dog this weekend and do some more beach walks. Bank hoiliday hooray! Fingers crossed for the weather.
