| Get him chipped before he goes on his travels..... renowned for wandering off, not running away, just going window shopping..
Another wonderful breed who's looks belie their abilities...

| We have picked him up he is very large, very bouncy, he has met Mitchel and is not showing anything nasty plenty of tail wagging etc,
Can our Anatolian people spread the word that we have him please, would be good if he could go to a breed experienced home or experienced giant breed home that likes plenty of exercise and like to train dogs and keep up their training

| Dogs Name: Kebab Breed: Anatolian Shepherd Sex: Male Age: 18 mths Date: 04/05/2012 SITUATION Dogs reactions Person casually walks past dog while dog is eating (meal or special food) Kebab appears to show no interest around food at all Person tries to pick up bowl while dog is eating (meal or special food) Same as above Person tries to pick up food that has fallen to floor while dog is trying to reach it Same as above Person tries to touch or take away high value food that dog is eating or holding Kebab shows no interest in a bone Person tries to touch or take away a toy that dog is playing with Once kebab has the toy, when you catch him it’s very easy to take it from him however his behaviour then stems to the person and he jumps up and mouths Person reaches hand towards dog Kebab has no problems with hands moving towards him, he actively looks for affection Person reaches over dog’s head Same as above Person tries to put on leash and/or collar When a lead is produced he gets excited and jumps up Person grabs at dog’s collar or neck When person grabs hold of his collar he becomes a little excited and tries mouthing – no aggression Person pulls on dog’s collar or neck Kebab shows appeasing behaviour but no aggression Person hugs dog around neck
Kebab again sees this as a play invitation Person pushes down on dog’s back As soon as any pressure is applied to kebabs back he turns around and mouths, then initiates play Person pushes down on dog’s rump Same as above Person tries to get dog to lie down by voice command Kebab has absolutely no understanding of obedience commands Person tries to get dog to lie down by physical pushing Kebab can easily be put into a down however he sees this as a game and mouths a lot Person tries to get dog to roll over on its back by physical manipulation Once kebab goes onto the ground he will roll onto his back and continues to mouth and play Person tries to groom dog’s head , torso, or legs (ie other than feet) Once kebab realises the brush isn’t a toy he is quite accepting Person touches dog’s feet or uses comb or scissors on dog’s feet Kebab has no problem with his feet being touched but he sees it as an initiation of play Person clips or tries to clip dog’s toenails Not tested Person tries to bathe dog, including towelling off after bath Not tested Person tries to open dog’s mouth Kebab has no issues with his mouth being opened however he sees any physical contact as play Person stares into dog’s eyes Kebab is very reluctant to make any eye contact Person shouts loudly near dog
Kebab looks in the general direction then goes over to investigate. He shows no unwanted behaviour Person threatens dog with object such as newspaper or with hand Kebab knows what a raised hand means and cowers however he doesn’t show any aggression Person drops an object near dog Kebab shows slight startled response and goes over to investigate Stranger knocks on door or rings bell at dog's home Kebab shows no unwanted behaviour when there is a knock at the door. When the stranger walks in kebab jumps up in a friendly manner Stranger enters house Same as above Stranger in house tries to pet dog Kebab loves all attention and affection which then leads to initiation of play and mouthing Stranger approaches dog in car Not tested Stranger approaches dog on street Kebab loves all people and jumping up in a friendly greeting Another person touches or hugs person with dog Kebab shows no protective streak Stranger shouts loudly in dog’s presence Kebab looks in the general direction but shows no unwanted behaviour Dog walks past familiar non reactive dog Kebab shows a lot of interest in the dog but doesn’t show any aggressive tendencies Dog walks past unfamiliar non reactive dog Same as above Dog walks past familiar reactive dog Kebab has no communication skills with other dogs and sees this as an invitation to play Dog walks past unfamiliar reactive dog Same as above Kebab doesn’t appear to show any aggression. He has not received any training what so ever, but he is very quick to learn. Kebab loves attention but sees any attention as an invitation to play. He does jump up a lot, mouth and also humps. Kebab will be reassessed next week once we have worked on his greeting of people and initiation of play. All these behaviours were shown at the time of this assessment conducted by Shaun Aldridge (Ruff Diamond Dog Training); however these behaviours may change in different circumstances.

| I'm falling for this big guy more and more. Every time I see him I love him a little bit more, he's so bloody crackers and soooo loving and sooo soooo handsome & so clumsy - I just love him!! If Kara was ready I would definitely take Kebab home with me But its not the right time and I'm so gutted Whoever offers this boy a home is getting a truly wonderful dog. Jeeez, its making me cry just writing about him Another time, another place & Kebab would be here with me ..... We did his assessment yesterday and discovered hes a right plonker around water! He kept stopping for a drink and we had put a big bucket of water out for him. First he tried climbing in to the bucket - he has no idea of his size or how big he is but soon realised he could only get 1 leg in the bucket at a time!! And when he drinks, he puts his whole face in the bucket - hes crackers! Really hoping Kebab finds his perfect home real soon, he deserves it xx | |

| Kebabie seems to be calming down a bit on his walks. He went out yesterday around the farmers fields and was much better, hardly any lunging & pulling. Everything is still very exciting to him and he wants to investigate EVERYTHING! He's so funny - he loves to feel the long grass up around his body as he's walking and if he see's a puddle he WILL walk you straight through the middle of it! Who said Anatolians don't like rain & mud | |

| Seriously falling for this big guy but I can't have him Took Kebab out on the group walk last night. He's always had two handlers before but last night was just me & him!! He's very very clever. He's walking so much better on the lead already. He still pulls but its much more manageable. I was very persistent with him and continually corrected him - by the time we got back he was walking to heel at the side of me. I'm dead proud of him. He still forgets himself now & again but it wont be long before he's walking perfectly on the lead. He's still a bit bouncy and jumps up at first but again he's sooo much better than when he first came in. Next we have to teach him that laps ARE NOT for sitting on coz HE WILL sit on you for a cuddle | |
