| I would love to join in one of these but Casper is so flippin bouncy and not very well socialised. Callie appears to be a sweetheart but has recall issues - as in twice she's got away from me off lead and doesn't seem to want to come back when I want, just when she's good n ready - it's quite scary seeing her trot off on her own merry way thinking I'm never going to see her again. To come and bring them both and keep them on their leads would be just too cruel, both to them, and my poor arms and hands. I would like to get Casper more socialised but it's difficult to find dogs (or dog owners) that want to risk it so I'm in a right quandry of how to do so. Would just being brave and going for it be a bad idea do you think? I've never seen him fight, he doesn't really have that in him, but he does shout back when he's told off by another dog for being too overbearing and I'd hate for that to degenerate into something worse.... | |

| Just an idea Roz what about coming to the rescue when there are dog walkers here and get him use to walking with other dogs, I do not mind you using the field as well to practice recall you could start with my garden and move up to the field if you want | |

| Oh that's wonderful, that would be brill. It sounds like just what they both need, thank you. Fridays and weekends are probably best for me, though none of them regular it depends on what my parents requirements are each week. When is the best time for you? | |

| Hi all,
As you know, Ivan is no longer leading the walks. I shall be collecting money and (hopefully) giving out the bandanas when we meet up at the start of the walk. Archie gets very excited when his playmates arrive and I wonder if there is anyone out there who could hold on to him while I collect the donations as I need to be able to stand still!
Also I need someone who could walk towards the back of the group as lookout to ensure no one gets lost, and no dog disappears behind the group.
I shall try to keep towards the front so no one goes astray there.
Thanks in anticipation ....

| Marley and I will be there as usual! Looking forward to yet another socialising session as he is getting much, much better around people and dogs! Thanks again for organising this Paula.
EDIT: I don't mind walking at the back, but I have only been to 2 walks so far, so am a bit confused as to who is with us, and who isn't...the faces on the second walk were pretty much completely different from the first!

| Thanks Andy. I am hoping that I can get some bandanas from Ivan so all the dogs in the group should be easy to identify. If bandanas are not available, we'll just have to be a bit more vigilant. There is usually no problem at all - just if one of "our" dogs goes off to play with another dog while the owners assume he/she is playing amongst our group.
Arch and I are looking forward to seeing you all there on Sunday.

| Great photos Andy. I'm glad you managed to get pictures of those towards the back of the field.
There certainly was love in the air - I inadvertently took quite a few photos which happened to include those dogs in similar pose. I didn't post them, so many similar photos might have raised a few eyebrows. I remember pointing to the action and asking the owner if that was HIS dog? It was and he had been neutered....hmm, that worked well, didn't it?

| *Ahem*...I know nothing about that incident.....but strangely, Marley has been neutered too and it has made no difference at all.... | |

| Sorry Sharon,
As I said in one of my previous posts, I forgot to set the shutter speed.....hence most were blurred and not worth posting. I bought a pretty decent camera, but I tend to only bring it out for holidays/special occassions. In this case, I hadn't powered the thing on for 4months, and 10am on a Sunday isn't my best time...
This means that when I was trying to be all "pro" and adjusting the shutter speed and aperature, I had it set to auto.....so the camera was trying to take still images instead of 10+ dogs zooming around!
Next month I promise I will clean up my camera-act and make sure it is on the righ setting!
Apologies again,
Andy. | |
