| Spitting image of our Tululah, who is a transexual Rottie cross Bull Mastiff. Baron could be her/his brother. | |

| Baron's assessment
Dogs Name: Baron Breed: Rottie x DDB? Sex: M Age: 1yrs Approx Date: 17/03/2012 SITUATION Dogs reactions Person casually walks past dog while dog is eating (meal or special food) Baron allows you to easily move around the food bowl. No issues and no aggression shown. Person tries to pick up bowl while dog is eating (meal or special food) Allows you to pick up his food bowl and carries on eating it but once out of his reach he stops and allows you take it away. Person tries to pick up food that has fallen to floor while dog is trying to reach it Moves towards the treat but once the treat is covered he shows slight investigation of the treat but will then ignore it. Person tries to touch or take away high value food that dog is eating or holding Once Baron has a high value treat reward he will try and run away from you. Once you catch him he will clamp down on the treat and refuse to give it to you. Baron has shown resource guarding behaviours around a bone in his kennel, but this can easily be stopped with water aversion and the “leave it” command Person tries to touch or take away a toy that dog is playing with Baron will take control of the toy and refuse to give it up unless the leave it command is given. No aggression shown. Person reaches hand towards dog Baron shows no signs of aggression or appeasing behaviours. Person reaches over dog’s head Same as above. Person tries to put on leash and/or collar Shows a little bit of excitability at signs of going out on a walk Person grabs at dog’s collar or neck Shows slight appeasing behaviours and tries to back away. Person pulls on dog’s collar or neck Baron shows a lot of appeasing behaviours and tries to back away . Person hugs dog around neck
Baron showed appeasing behaviours and wasn’t too comfortable in this situation. But didn’t show any aggressive behaviours Person pushes down on dog’s back Baron goes straight into the sit and shows slight appeasing behaviours Person pushes down on dog’s rump Baron turn his head constantly licks the persons hand Person tries to get dog to lie down by voice command Baron does not know the down command Person tries to get dog to lie down by physical pushing Baron goes straight into the down rolls onto his back and looks for tummy rubs Person tries to get dog to roll over on its back by physical manipulation Same as above Person tries to groom dog’s head , torso, or legs (ie other than feet) At first Baron becomes excitable and sees it has a game but then becomes very accepting Person touches dog’s feet or uses comb or scissors on dog’s feet Baron will easily give you his paw on command Baron constantly licks your had whilst you do this Person clips or tries to clip dog’s toenails Not tested as black nails Person tries to bathe dog, including towelling off after bath Not tested Person tries to open dog’s mouth Baron sees this as affection and a game Person stares into dog’s eyes Baron is very unwilling to make eye contact and shows submissive the behaviours and starts acting the fool Person shouts loudly near dog
Baron shows slight fear response and walks off Person threatens dog with object such as newspaper or with hand At first Baron is hesitant of the newspaper but then sees it as a toy Person drops an object near dog Baron shows no response to it at all Stranger knocks on door or rings bell at dog's home Baron looks in the direction of the door and wags his tail Stranger enters house Baron appears very accepting and approaches the stranger Stranger in house tries to pet dog Baron loves the attentions and sits at the strangers feet accepting the affection Stranger approaches dog in car Not tested Stranger approaches dog on street Not tested but appears to love all people Another person touches or hugs person with dog No issues Stranger shouts loudly in dog’s presence Baron investigates where the shouting came from Dog walks past familiar non reactive dog Baron appears to show no interest in these dogs Dog walks past unfamiliar non reactive dog Baron appears to ignore the other dog Dog walks past familiar reactive dog If Baron isn’t given a means of escape then he will show defencive aggressive behaviours Dog walks past unfamiliar reactive dog Same as above Baron is a highly trainable dog. He has shown some signs of resource guarding, but this can easily be stop to prevent it for going any further. All these behaviours were shown at the time of this assessment conducted by Shaun Aldridge (Ruff Diamond Dog Training); however these behaviours may change in different circumstances.
