| Sid is 7 yrs old. He was castrated today and started his vacs. He also had some broken teeth which he needed removing & an umbilical hernia that needs sorting. This poor boy is recovering well tonight. More details as we get to know him UPDATE 09/04/12 Sid was found as a stray the owners were located but they did not wish to go to the pound to claim him back He was held at the pound for 3 weeks waiting for us to have him into the rescue, he was found with a bad untreated ear infection which cased him to rip a hole in his face, whilst in the pound he saw a vet and got treatment for his ear and face these are now healing well We took him the day after he arrived to our vet where he was castrated, had to have a tooth out which was broken the vet believes he had been kicked, he also had a umbilical hernia repaired, whilst with us so far and at the vets he has been nothing but a gentleman, he is wanting to walk away from dogs that are barking at him as he does not seem to want any trouble He has been very good around his food bowl even allowing us to take a bone from his mouth, he has a good appetite and is eating well, he seems to like being with people and loves affection and attention, at one time we think this boy was well loved and cared for but would not think so for the past couple of years, on his legs it looks like he has been sleeping on hard surface as he has hard skin on elbows, he is now loving it on a thick duvet, he will go into a crate without much trouble, he is very clean in the house and has not had one accident, in the garden though he is doing lots of wees to get his smell about, this is not surprising with the amount of dogs that come and go from here | |

| We are currently fostering Sid, its day 2 and its like he's always been here! he is a true gentle gentleman. He has met my girlie staffie, she can be a bit nervous but they had a great stroll together this morning. Sid is currently good on a short 15 minute amble. He does have more in him but I think his mind is more willing than his body. But, he is very fit for a 7 year old fella, who has clearly had a hard time for a while. One of my males has fear issues with dogs but he has walked past no issue, my other rescue boy is currently just ignoring him, well, he does still smell a bit of testosterone and might take all the cookies Outside we have met a labrador, full on greyhound and a small terrier. Sid says hello and backs away if there's too much excitement. Has seen a cat, interested but not bothered to investigate. Has seen my chickens, was interested but called off ok whilst on lead, will see how he is without He plods along on the leash, is eating well, very gentle if hand fed, lets you take food away and out of his mouth. Loves belly rubs and leans in for cuddles. And nearly most impressive of all for a bull mastiff he only snores a little and dribbles even less this is one lovely boy, who will bring much happiness | |

| It is official.... Sid is a lush! He will roll over and entice you for a rub at every opportunity . He is happiest when cuddled up with you on the floor or with his paw resting on some part of your body. He doesnt want to go out for his morning pee alone , really enjoys he twice daily ambles, likes the company of other dogs, and enjoys a good snooze. He is a really easy dog to care for and be with. I have observed no issues at all so far. | |

| update on Sir Sid...... Despite being an old boy Sid can move when the fancy takes him, in one particular case his fancy was a very pretty white chicken, Dora the explorer! He was happily plodding around the garden with them but then Dora wanted to run, and so did Sid! I couldnt catch him and he caught the chicken. We has fast and determined but we still have Dora, although a few less feathers now He clearly has a prey drive with chucks but has passed cats and rabbits close by with a firm leave it command. He has met numerous dogs, all with no issue and now met the teenage kids, who he has been gentle and calm with. Sid was out with me all day yesterday at dog training and meeting some admirers. He loved being out, watching the world and exploring. He knows all the basic commands and can walk well on a lead but given the option, will sniff a lot!! He is great company and will make his forever family very happy. | |

| Well, Dora has finally left the chicken run and is now again free ranging round the garden , albeit with a very bald patch on her back! Sid has decided that his new bestest friends are Beau and Precious, two small terriers. They had to walk us to the gate this morning, as he did not want to leave them at the beach wot a character. He has also taken to using his head to gentle butt your butt or hands for a stroke. No issues in terms of behaviour or manners. | |
