Dogs Name: Bella Breed: Rottie Sex: F Age: 15 mths Date: 06/04/2012 SITUATION Dogs reactions Person casually walks past dog while dog is eating (meal or special food) Bella appears to be very good around food she doesn’t show any aggression of appeasing behaviours Person tries to pick up bowl while dog is eating (meal or special food) Bella easily allows you to pick the food up and as soon as it is out of her reach she stops eating and doesn’t tried to get it Person tries to pick up food that has fallen to floor while dog is trying to reach it Bella rushes forward towards the food but once it is covered she shows a little problem solving to get the treat then leaves it alone Person tries to touch or take away high value food that dog is eating or holding - Bella see you coming for the high value treat as a games and runs around, once you catch her she easily allows you to take it from her mouth Person tries to touch or take away a toy that dog is playing with Bella loves toys and becomes very excitable with a lot of jumping up. Once Bella has the toys she runs around and when you catch her and try to take the toys she sees this as a game of tug of war and will not release. Bella doesn’t show any aggression around the toys Person reaches hand towards dog Bella appears to love attention and has no problem with hands coming towards her Person reaches over dog’s head Same as above Person tries to put on leash and/or collar Bella come become very excitable at the prospect of a walk Person grabs at dog’s collar or neck Bella has no problem with her collar being touched Person pulls on dog’s collar or neck Bella shows slight appeasing behaviours when i pulled on her neck. She then became very excitable and tried to mouth my arm Person hugs dog around neck
Bella has no issues with being hugged around the neck, but if she is cuddled for to long she sees this as a game and becomes quite excitable Person pushes down on dog’s back Bella becomes very excitable and again tries to mouth your hand. She then flops onto her back and again tries to mouth your Hand. When she gets up she becomes extremely excitable with a lot of racing around and jumping up Person pushes down on dog’s rump Bella again becomes excitable but does go into a sit Person tries to get dog to lie down by voice command Bella knows this command well Person tries to get dog to lie down by physical pushing Bella has no trouble with this and will flop onto her game look for a game of wrestling Person tries to get dog to roll over on its back by physical manipulation Bella has no problem with this and does it will minimal effort Person tries to groom dog’s head , torso, or legs (ie other than feet) Bella is very excepting of the brush once she realises the brush isn’t a toy Person touches dog’s feet or uses comb or scissors on dog’s feet Bella has no problem with her feet being touched. But again this can excite her into a game Person clips or tries to clip dog’s toenails No tested due to colouration and length of nails Person tries to bathe dog, including towelling off after bath Not tested Person tries to open dog’s mouth Bella has no problem with her mouth being opened Person stares into dog’s eyes Bella holds eye contact very comfortably Person shouts loudly near dog
Bella looks in the directions for the person then moves towards them showing slight appeasing behaviours Person threatens dog with object such as newspaper or with hand Bella sees this as a game and tries to jump up Person drops an object near dog Bella shows a slight startle response then goes over to investigate it Stranger knocks on door or rings bell at dog's home Stranger enters house Stranger in house tries to pet dog Stranger approaches dog in car Stranger approaches dog on street Another person touches or hugs person with dog Stranger shouts loudly in dog’s presence Dog walks past familiar non reactive dog Bella can become very interested and excitable around new dogs Dog walks past unfamiliar non reactive dog Same as above Dog walks past familiar reactive dog Bella doesn’t want to fight with any dog and will try to get away Dog walks past unfamiliar reactive dog Same as above At present Bella is very excitable and play motivated. Bella has no real problems apart from the over excitable behaviour, which can lead to jumping up[ and mouthing. All these behaviours were shown at the time of this assessment conducted by Shaun Aldridge (Ruff Diamond Dog Training); however these behaviours may change in different circumstances.

| What the foster home has to say about Bella - Quote :
- Bella is a lively happy girl, quite shy with people she doesn't know.
Bella is very good with other dogs, loves puppies as she can play more with puppies. She also loves children, she is not boisterous and doesn't knock them down or barge past, she understands distant and never uses her body to play with children i.e. knock them over, run in to them or jump up. Bella in general doesn't jump, she will bark when strangers come to the door, but that's just her doing her job. Bella isn't food aggressive even with high value foods and will happily let other dogs take her food. Bella does 'mouth' when playing, she is getting better at not doing it, but sometimes forgets what expected of her and starts to mouth. Bella loves to learn, she can sit, wait, back, look at me and high five for a treat. She will be a great fun family dog for anyone.

She is looking for a home that will give her exercise and keep her brain occupied

| She was really funny today we walked them for about an hour this morning then left her in her crate while we went out for lunch. When we came back it was already starting to get dark and we had a cup tea while deliberating whether to take them out again. Well Bella had made up her mind and went and got her own lead and gave it to James!!
After that we had to put our reflective gear on and go round the block. Shes actually been really good out walking. We ve used a halti and had no problems at all, not pulling and ignores other dogs. She does chase the cat though so we re keeping them separate at the moment. Early days though, we will work on that if we can and the jumping up which she does when she gets excited. She loves to play in the garden and has a soft crocodile toy and a chew in her crate which she likes alot. Shes a busy little bee.

| Obviously a Rott with a brain, I thought James could do with the exercise when he dropped off Honey on Saturday . James it was nice to meet you the other day... Honey has slept since the moment she arrived and been very laid back, no problems what so ever. Your Brian certainly looks like a large chap. | |
